Throughout life, I have found that my heart sings by hopping on an airplane. Those flights have taken me to classes, seminars, retreats, service opportunities, mission partners, family adventures, and vacations. Every single time, nuggets of soul food discovered along the way. Always fascinating people and stories to encounter. Sometimes these flights take me to something and sometimes they take me away from something. All have been parts of my life long learning.
While today I left the comfort and beauty of my family, always hard to do, I solo adventure to Koinonia Farms in southern Georgia. I look forward to being quiet on the farm as I soak in the beginning days of sabbatical. Through community meals, serving alongside others, reading books with no set goal to get to, listening to the Holy Spirit on long walks, I hope to soak in the spirit of the place that generations have gathered at as they leaned into the good and holy work of racial justice and human peace.

Thankful today for all those in the airline industry that make these kinds of journeys possible. Weather delays…aborted landings… all part of the world of travel.
The car drive down to the farm from Atlanta took about 3 hours. Amazing farm land with corn 8 feet tall already, and trees, trees, trees, and pecan orchards. Got here with the sunset into night just as the back right tire was almost flat. Sometimes luck gets you across the finish line. I’ll work on that unplanned repair tomorrow. Maybe.
Onwards…..
